    Microsoft Management Model Designer 1.5

     
    The Microsoft Management Model Designer (MMD) is a tool for developing management models. Management models provide a way to represent all of the areas of manageability for applications and systems services. You can use the MMD to:

    • Build a management framework by defining the managed entities that make up your applications or system services and define how these they relate to each other.
    • Import existing instrumentation, such as events and performance counters, into your model.
    • Author human-readable knowledge associated with each managed entity, such as event and performance counter descriptions and troubleshooting content.
    • Import and export existing MOM 2005 management pack knowledge
    • Validate your management model schema.

    Refer to Health Modeling: A Key Step to DSI-Enabled Applications for information on how to build a Management (formerly known as Health) Model for your application.

    MVP!!!!!!!

    Que mejor forma puedo tener de empezar el año que con el nombramiento de MVP.
     
    Hoy me ha llegado el correo de microsoft con el nombramiento, asi que soy MVP de MOM!!!!!!!!!.
     
    No es que sea la categoria que mas me hubiera gustado, pero desde luego estoy tan alucinado de ser MVP que me da lo mismo, como sabeis el periodo por el que se es MVP es de un año, aunque espero que dentro de un año pueda conservar el titulo, durante este año, me concentrare en mi categoria que es la de MOM.
     
    Ya le estoy dando vueltas a los articulos, etc.

    Nueva serie de articulos sobre management

    En breve espero empezar una nueva serie de artículos, que tendrán como objetivo ayudar a la comunidad IT a mejorar y comprender mejor los aspectos relativos al management de las infraestructuras.

     

    En este sentido hablaremos de:

     

    SDM.

    Scripting (wmi, powershell, etc)

    MOM (2005, 2007, avicode)

    Informes sobre IT con Reporting Services.

    PKIs, SLAs en IT.

    SMS v4.

    Sharepoint para IT.

    Integrando las aplicaciones, la monitorización y la operación.

    Extendiendo los productos de Microsoft para adaptarlos a las necesidades especificas de las empresas.

    MOM 2007 RC1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Una gran noticia.
     

    Key improvements in RC1 include:

    • Improved install process
    • Major usability improvements made to the UI Updated Management Packs
    • New Active Directory MP
    • Ability to Gateway and certificate manage non-trusted devices
    • Support for more deployment topologies including multiple management servers
    • Improved stability

    DPM 2006 SP1

    La verdad es que trae los hotfix hasta la fecha, soporta el single instance y los clusters, pero no incorpora nada de lo anunciado para la v2.

    MOM 2007 y los roles.

    Una de las cosas que mas me gusta de MOM 2007 es que se puede configurar para crear roles de usuarios de forma que estos roles solo vean en MOM  los servidores y alertas que les correspondan.

    Nueva Categoria en WSUS

    Hi WSUS Admins,

    Over the next couple of days, a new product category will be added to your Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server under the Microsoft SQL Server family.  (The SQL Server family was previously called just "SQL.") SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2000 products will be under the SQL Server family of products. 

    The new category will be named "SQL Server Feature Pack."The SQL Server Feature Pack category will offer updates that are SQL Server components, but did not ship on SQL Server 2005 media. See http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=df0ba5aa-b4bd-4705-aa0a-b477ba72a9cb&DisplayLang=en for other packages that are included in the Feature Pack for SQL Server 2005 SP1.

    SCE y Vista

    Como sabes, con SCE monitorizas y administras tambien los puestos, la verdad es que es un fantastico producto.
    Ahora han sacado un add-on para monotorizar y administrar los vistas RC1.

    Nuevas categorias para WUS 3 Beta 2

    Three new product categories will be added to your Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) Beta2 server over the next day or two, under the Microsoft Windows family. The new categories will be entitled “Windows Vista”, “Windows Ultimate Extras” and “Windows Vista Ultimate Language Packs.” The Windows Vista category is being included in preparation for the Windows Vista release. Over the life of Windows Vista, the Windows Vista Ultimate Extras category will include all Extras as they are released. Windows Ultimate Extras will be offered through WSUS and will work only on computers running Windows Vista Ultimate.

     

    The Windows Vista Ultimate Language Packs category will allow Microsoft to deliver Multilingual User Interface Packs to customers who have Windows Vista Ultimate. Language Packs will not be available through WSUS. Enterprises with volume licensing agreements can download the Language Packs from the MVLS Web site instead.
