Que mejor forma puedo tener de empezar el año que con el nombramiento de MVP.

Hoy me ha llegado el correo de microsoft con el nombramiento, asi que soy MVP de MOM!!!!!!!!!.

No es que sea la categoria que mas me hubiera gustado, pero desde luego estoy tan alucinado de ser MVP que me da lo mismo, como sabeis el periodo por el que se es MVP es de un año, aunque espero que dentro de un año pueda conservar el titulo, durante este año, me concentrare en mi categoria que es la de MOM.

Ya le estoy dando vueltas a los articulos, etc.

Comunidad, preparate :-D

En breve espero empezar una nueva serie de artículos, que tendrán como objetivo ayudar a la comunidad IT a mejorar y comprender mejor los aspectos relativos al management de las infraestructuras.

La verdad es que trae los hotfix hasta la fecha, soporta el single instance y los clusters, pero no incorpora nada de lo anunciado para la v2.

MOM 2007 y los roles.

Una de las cosas que mas me gusta de MOM 2007 es que se puede configurar para crear roles de usuarios de forma que estos roles solo vean en MOM los servidores y alertas que les correspondan.

(The SQL Server family was previously called just "SQL.") SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2000 products will be under the SQL Server family of products.

The new category will be named "SQL Server Feature Pack."The SQL Server Feature Pack category will offer updates that are SQL Server components, but did not ship on SQL Server 2005 media. Three new product categories will be added to your Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) Beta2 server over the next day or two, under the Microsoft Windows family. The new categories will be entitled “Windows Vista”, “Windows Ultimate Extras” and “Windows Vista Ultimate Language Packs.” The Windows Vista category is being included in preparation for the Windows Vista release. Over the life of Windows Vista, the Windows Vista Ultimate Extras category will include all Extras as they are released. Windows Ultimate Extras will be offered through WSUS and will work only on computers running Windows Vista Ultimate.

The Windows Vista Ultimate Language Packs category will allow Microsoft to deliver Multilingual User Interface Packs to customers who have Windows Vista Ultimate. Language Packs will not be available through WSUS. Enterprises with volume licensing agreements can download the Language Packs from the MVLS Web site instead.

Bueno, estoy a punto de empezar el piloto serio de MOM v3, asi que estoy intensificando un poco el trainning ;-), el caso es que me he encontrado con esto, es nuevo, no es que me parezca tremendamente util, pero es nuevo.

An introduction of a new role called the Gateway Server. A Gateway Server act as a proxy for those agents that may reside on the other side of a firewall (DMZ network, etc.), and/or are not part of the same trusted AD forest as the MOM implementation. Now in MOM 2005 today, you could allow untrusted systems on the other side of a FW into your MOM system, but you had to do it at the expense of turning off mutual auth. completely for everything AND you needed to set up FW rules for each and every server on the other side of the FW to allow the encrypted communication channel between the Management Server and the servers in the protected network. With the Gateway Server, you can apply certificates that allow you to communicate securely to these untrusted targets as well as position the Gateway Server on the same network as the protected servers thereby relieving the need for all those FW rules - you just need one rule to allow communication between the MS and the GS and that is it!

Es fantastico que MS este haciendo tantos esfuerzos por mejorar el acceso programatico a sus productos.

Estas mejoras hacen que podamos extender sus productos y automatizar la administración.

Una buena noticia sobre el SCOM es que el 100% de la funcionalidad del UI es posible usarla desde scripts y codigo:

For SCOM 2007, we set off with a goal that the SDK would provide 100% of the functionality that the UI exposes and in fact have the UI built entirely on top of our public SDK. SCOM being a platform more than anything else, we felt it was more important than ever to provide as much accessibility and extensibility opportunities to the product as possible, and the SDK is one of the main focuses of that effort. At this point in the product cycle, I feel that we have more than succeeded in our goals. Today the UI, the Command Shell and various modules in the product all use the public SDK as their sole provider for interacting with SCOM. In fact, the SDK provides more functionality that is even exposed in these components. Further, the SDK is fully remotable using WCF (Windows Communication Foundation).
