Bueno una vez que estan terminados todos los articulos, creo conveniente crear un indice, ya que empiezan a exisitir enlaces por internet a partes sueltas.

Hay que decir que el producto se ha comportado muy bien y que se cumplen los pronosticos, el producto es estupendo, supondra un gran cambio para la forma en la que desplegamos y mantenemos los puestos en nuestras arquitecturas.

Los unicos puntos negativos, son la seguridad que flaquea en un par de tonterias y que no he logrado virtualizar algunas aplicaciones poco estandares, pero en general de 10 intentos de virtualizar aplicaciones 8 han funcionado y las que no han funcionado no las puedo denominar "aplicaciones serias"

IE7 and WSUS

So IE7 for XP and 2003 shipped the otherday and will be pushed out via Windows Update in the future. IE7 for English clients will be available for WSUS server synchronization from Microsoft Update starting Wednesday, November 1, 2006. This release will be available in other languages over the next few months. IE7.0 will be classified as an Update Rollup for WSUS servers and will be approximately 15MB in size. IE7.0 will be available for Windows XP SP2, Windows XP 64-bit Edition, and Windows Server 2003 SP1 systems.

* An important note: IE7.0 will not be available to SUS 1.0 or SUS 1.0/SP1 servers, which will be at the end of their support lifecycle on December 6, 2006.

Of course you should never blindly install anything so I figured some resources to get you going would be appropriate!

IE7 for Windows XP Launches Today

After lots of late hours and a few pre-release builds, the IE Team is happy (and a bit relieved) to say that the final version of Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP has arrived. You can now download IE7 for Windows XP in English from either the IE site or the Windows Download Center. Look for IE7 in other Windows-supported languages over the coming weeks.

We expect millions of customers will upgrade to IE7 because it’s safer and easier. Some e-commerce and financial services companies like Paypal and VeriSign are endorsing IE7 because of its improved security for online transactions.

For those of you who haven’t heard yet, we’re going to start distributing IE7 in English as a high-priority update thru Automatic Updates. If you're an IT professional and have customers who want to manage their internal deployment of IE7, you should recommend they have blocking measures in place by 1 November. We think it’ll take several months to complete the distribution worldwide.

The IE Team still encourages Windows XP users to upgrade to Windows Vista when it becomes available to receive the additional benefits of IE7 in Windows Vista, such as parental controls and Protected Mode. Windows Vista is targeted to be available to volume license customers in November and all other customers in January 2007, although as we’ve said before, the exact delivery date will be driven by the quality of the final product.

Algunas veces he hablado de softgrid, la empresa que compro Microsoft y que permitira la virtualización de aplicaciones concretas en los puestos, de esta forma se evitaran las instalaciones y los problemas de compatibilidad.

Slam is a Microsoft Research Community Technologies Group research project, developed in conjunction with the Microsoft Photo and Imaging eXperience (PIX) team. It is a mobile device-based application that enables lightweight, group-centric real-time communication, location awareness and photo-sharing.

The core concept behind Slam is a “Slam”, a group of people with whom you can exchange messages and photos. When you send a message in Slam, it is automatically sent to everyone in the group to which you sent it. For smartphone users that have the Slam client installed, their phone will buzz and they will have an indication on their phone’s home screen that there is a new message. For SMS users, they will receive the message as an SMS from the Slam server. Like smartphone users, SMS users can be members of multiple slam groups. SMS users will send / receive messages to a different phone number for each slam group they a member of.

The Slam application will run on any Windows Mobile SmartPhone.
